Who is Eventellect?
Eventellect is the go-to partner for data-conscious sports and entertainment executives seeking to optimize ticket yield, revenue, and brand equity. We manage ticket inventory in real time across multiple online sales channels via our proprietary software platform, market trend analysis, and pricing algorithms. We create value for our various partners through our custom ticket management solutions.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for passionate, innovative, and driven people who want to be part of our growing company. We are actively expanding our in-house data science capabilities and are looking for a Data Scientist/Sr. Data Scientist to develop data science-based engines to handle the cradle-to-grave process of how we manage tickets. The perfect candidate will have a strong focus on statistics and/or machine learning, and proven experience translating real-world problem statements into mathematical/statistical models. If you want to be a dedicated member of a highly collaborative team and develop industry-leading data science capabilities, then look no further!

What would you do?
  • Work with data scientists, software developers and account managers to translate business objectives into problem statements that can be addressed using data science.
  • Access/acquire data from internal and external sources as needed – primarily from relational databases (SQL), but potentially other sources as well.
  • Build, test, tune, and optimize statistical and/or machine learning models in order to predict or classify.
  • Collaborate with software development to take models to production and/or scale them as needed.
  • Develop necessary products (tools/visualizations/reports/dashboards) in order to make modeling efforts actionable.
  • Train users across the company on how to use data science products in order to drive value.

What do you bring?
  • Proven experience building statistical and/or machine learning models.
  • Experience collaborating with professional software development teams and/or proven experience deploying models into production environments.
  • Excellent understanding of underlying statistical and machine learning principles and their impact on the quality and robustness of predictive models.
  • Creative problem solver with a high focus on speed-to-value.
  • Flexible and willing to accept changes in priorities as necessary

What is required to succeed?
  • MS or PhD in an analytical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science)
  • Hands-on experience with R and/or Python.
  • Hands-on experience writing SQL queries to extract data from relational databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

What else would be nice to have?
  • Experience in driving quantifiable improvements using statistics, mathematical modeling and/or machine learning in a professional setting
  • Experience with Revenue Management (RM) models, specifically forecasting and optimization in capacity-constrained environments.
  • Experience with both R and Python
  • Experience with dashboarding tools, e.g., Tableau.
  • Experience taking proof of concept models into production.
  • Experience interacting with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL) from R or Python.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., git)

What are the perks of working at Eventellect?
  • A fast-growing company that’s respected in Houston (Houston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work 2017 & 2018) and nationally (INC 5000 list of fastest-growing companies 9 years in a row)
  • A competitive salary and bonus potential
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including 90% employee medical coverage, as well as dental and vision coverage, basic term life insurance and short-term disability coverage
  • A $1,000 annual ticket budget to spend on sports and other live events

What else do I need to know?
  • Work will primarily be performed in the Houston office
